You will want to follow Peter Rutland as he fights his way through Afghanistan in 1878, while serving under General Roberts or ‘Bobs’, who made his name in this small Victorian War with his famous march from Kabul to Kandahar.

Based on the 1878 campaign, a young Artillery officer embarks on a hazardous mission to return a holy relic, despite inside treachery and a long standing curse, whilst fighting a noble enemy and a personal war on Afghanistan’s bloody plains, where to his surprise he finds great loyalty and also love.

Synopsis

HelmetAfghanistan 1878 – A bloody conflict is being fought to keep the advancing Russians out of India. Peter Rutland, newly commissioned into the Royal Artillery, has been posted to Kurram. Peter is eager to follow in his father’s footsteps, a retired Major who served with the Guns in Afghanistan in 1840. Peter is puzzled and disappointed at his father’s request for him to resign his commission and work in the family business. Peter is undeterred on discovering the reason for his father’s opposition to the Afghanistan posting - the ‘curse’ on the Rutland name – ‘When your blood returns here it will darken the stones of our valley.’

This courageous and inexperienced young officer embarks on a hazardous mission to return a precious holy relic to its rightful owners – the religious authorities in Afghanistan.

Rutland’s Curse vividly brings to life the explosive action on the battlefields in the hostile terrain of Afghanistan where cultural misunderstandings, treachery and revenge become a personal war.
